Healthy adults generally do not get thrush without having some risk factors.
Anyone can develop oral thrush, but the
infection is more common in certain people. Risk factors include:

Being an
infant or elderly
2.
Having a
weakened immune system
3.
Wearing
dentures
4.
Having
other health conditions, such as diabetes
5.
Taking
certain medications, such as antibiotics or oral or inhaled corticosteroids
6.
Undergoing
chemotherapy or radiation treatment for cancer
7.
Having
conditions that cause dry mouth
