Yeast Infection (Yeast Vaginitis)

Vaginitis is a vaginal yeast infection. It’s  is a fungal infection that causes irritation, discharge and intense itchiness of the vagina and the vulva.
The fungus candida causes a vaginal yeast infection. Your vagina naturally contains a balanced mix of yeast, including candida, and bacteria. That balance can be disrupted and lead to a yeast infection.
Factors that increase your risk of developing a yeast infection include Antibiotic use, increased estrogen levels, Uncontrolled diabetes, Impaired immune system and Sexual activity.
To diagnose a yeast infection, your doctor may questions about history, perform physical examination and take sample of vaginal secretion for culture test.

Antifungal medications are available as creams, ointments, tablets and suppositories.
